As part of the graduation week organized by the Faculty of Medicine and
Biomedical Sciences (FMBS) of the University of Yaounde I (UYI), the
institution held an open-door day on Monday, 15 December. It was an
occasion to mark the official launch of the musée de la Diplomation
(Graduation Museum) exhibition, ‘Hommage aux maîtres’ (Tribute to the
Masters), which features archives, historical instruments, photographs and
video testimonies of the work carried out.
A tour of the stands revealed, among other things, a wide range of food,
medicinal and cosmetic products produced by students of the Department of
Pharmaceutical Technology and Pharmaceutical Legislation. Meanwhile, the
Department of Restorative Dentistry and Endodontics provided visitors with
information on oral health. The Cameroon Association of Women Doctors took
this opportunity to present its activities to the general public. Lastly, the FMBS
Students’ Association also presented its activities to the general public,
displaying the basic medical textbooks they use and games designed to
improve IQ scores.
It should be noted that the FMBS Graduation Week began with community
labour on Saturday, 13 December 2025, on the UYI campus.
The purpose of this event was not only to celebrate training for careers in the
healthcare sector, but also to pay a heartfelt tribute to the masters. As a
prelude, the UYI’s FMBS, led by its Dean, Professor Esther Meka, organized a
scientific gathering bringing together the university’s leading figures, during
which 329 candidates from various specialist disciplines defended their
Master’s, undergraduate and CESSI research dissertations.
The FMBS Graduation Week ran up to Friday, 19 December 2025, followed by
a scientific conference, sporting and fundraising activities, a Christmas party,
culminating in the highly-awaited graduation ceremony, which was at the
Yaounde Conference Centre.
